Eli Lilly acquisition payday fuels $1M seed round for St. Petersburg biotech startup – Tampa Bay Business Journal

ARTAN Bio, a biotech startup and member of spARK Labs by ARK Invest, raised $1 million in seed funding to advance its genetic medicine platform toward first-in-human clinical studies. The funding round was led by co-founder Michael Torres, following the acquisition of his previous company, CrossBridge Bio, by Eli Lilly. Alongside the investment, Brian Bodemann was named CEO while co-founder Anthony Schwartz transitioned to COO, positioning the St. Petersburg-based company to accelerate the development of therapies targeting genetic diseases caused by nonsense mutations.
